Because the parents are a child's ideal (as they are growing up) one of two things occur, either the child accepts the philosophies of the parent as it is (and the children's personalities are killed) or the child grows up with his/her own views and confronts the parents because of the contradictions they have seen between the parents and/or between parents and the child's own feelings.
